A vegetable or tofu patty, or any form of tofu products are intended as a substitute for certain meat products. Those who choose to opt for a tofu diet as opposed to red meat may have various reasons as to why they favor one over the other. It may be for environmentally conscious reasons, ethical concerns, or merely for health. The fact is, many red meat products can be loaded with cholesterol and saturated fats. This can really add up over time to cause cardiovascular and other health issues later in life. The consumption of tofu, if for no other reason, can be seen as preventative maintenance for those who may have high cholesterol or be at risk for heart problems due to a heavy diet of red meat. Though everyone’s tolerance levels may be different, an amusement park treatment of the body can only last so long until the effects are felt. Replacing certain meats with alternate sources of protein, such as grains, legumes, fruits and vegetables may leave a heavy meat eater with less than desired satisfaction as the craving takes a while to leave the system, but overall eating a more organic alternative can really make a difference in the long run.
